Om Noms #1

Hey peeps,

As much as I swore to myself that I would update this blog at least thrice a week after exams, I realized that even post-exams I am much more busy than what I have imagined!

Hence, instead of posting really long or moderately long posts with me ranting and raving about things, I would do really short posts of food with brief commentary instead.

Part of this is because whenever I am stressed, I just love my food even more! :P

Here is this week's Om Noms!

1. Minced Meat Noodles from "Eat" at Clementi @$5.30
Minced Meat noodles
I know what you guys are thinking, $5.30 for that amount of noodles is rather overpriced, and I totally agree with you: I mean, I can get TWO BOWLS of that in school for the same price! But we can't compare school and outside price, can we?

Oh yum!
Price aside, the taste is fantabulous (my portmanteau for fabulous and fantastic), it is like, having the just right kind of spiciness and tanginess, and the sauce is heavenly. Even for a person who generally dislikes all things fish like me, the fishball is really good and bouncy~~ boing!

 2. Pizza Puff from "Chill" in school, @$2.00

Pizza puff
Not the most fantastic thing ever, I had so much higher expectations for it when that miserable little puff costs as much as a school based "Happy Meal" or Creamy Mushroom Spaghetti. I think the crust is too thick and dry, the fillings wayyyy too little and not sufficient to offset the relatively saw-dust like texture of the crust. Although it lives up to its name and smell quite like a pizza, I would rather eat a real pizza or a chicken potato puff at the same price.

3.  Teriyaki Chicken Don from Japanese stall in school canteen, @$2.50

Teriyaki Chicken don
I once tried this at the start of J1 life, and because it was so salty, I never ate again till this time.

I am pleasantly surprised that it is no longer salty, but has a relatively good taste balance. The sauce is in a good amount, though some part of the rice remain uncoated, I think it is rather good to not have too much sauce because usually sauce= salty.

For just $2.50, the amount of chicken they give is LARGEEEEE and I couldn't finish it at the same time with my rice: eventually there was just like around 4 slices of chicken left and I sat there nom-ing my way through them.

On the downside, I am very suspicious of the raw vegetables. Although I love having raw vegetables in my food, all the media reports on how hawkers tend not to wash their vegetables (or not washing them enough) before cutting them up for garnish/salad is very disturbing. I mean, a lot of people do get salmonella poisoning from unclean food after all.

Next time, no veggy (at least not outside) perhaps?

That's all for today! Adieu my loves!

Japan: Sugar Rusk Cookies

 Food Review:)
Sugar Rusk cookies from Japan
Sugar rusk cookies aren't really cookies, I only call them that because I can't think of anything else to call them. The flavor that I was given is caramel pudding, and just the words themselves already made me salivate! Yum!

Japanese like to pack each one separately
As per usual Japanese style, each sugar rusk biscuit is individually packaged in a frosted-edge clear wrapper, which increases its appeal even further. It gave the cookie an almost dreamy kind of presentation.

Sugar rusk is actually like a dried kind of bread thing. Horrible method of description I know, but that's the closest I can get to. Singapore has this kind of cookie like bread too, but they aren't so beautifully packaged.

I was filled with so much expectations that the cookie itself was rather disappointing. I had expect it to be better than the cheap ones that I get at Singapore, but it was actually worse. No doubt, it was fragrant and had this touch of sweet caramel and rather coffee-like smell? But the taste itself was relatively bland, and sugar aside, I really couldn't taste anything too unique.

Not sure where you guys can buy this here, but it isn't really something that is overly awesome anyway~~ ^^

Desk Organization

Not sure if you guys get jealous when you see super pretty desks or all-pastel desk things, but sometimes I do. Because my own table is really boring and practical with very little to no pretty things.

Check out this cool video here
Today I am just going to share with you my post exam room tidying experience, and some of the tricks I use to make every thing tidy!

First we have my vanity table, which is cluttered with absolute junk, food etc.

Usually I use such a container like thing  so that I can throw in all my cosmetics and skincare product, giving it an appearance of neat.

Bingo, all crammed!
The white sash bag has all the cosmetics sample I accumulated over time.

Yup, I cleared the hairballs and stuff too:)

Then this is my table, it has been super messy since June holidays as I have no time to organize it at all.

The rag in the picture was used for cleaning btw.

Sugar Rusk Box
Sorry, the picture refuses to turn around again, aish. I have no idea why that keeps happening.

I reused a biscuit package container from Japan to store all the smaller things. In this way, you don't have to spend money buying more storage cases, and you get to recycle! The box is really

storing all the different things in 3 sections
Here is my small-sized drawer for notepads, cute stationery, and just all my stationery in general.
Sorry about the grainy photos, the drawer was in a corner where the lights were really dim.

I threw away all the coloured pencils, they were neon and nice, but I lost the sharpener and I didn't want to keep them in the drawer anymore.

More sticky notes, note pads, and some clips.

I keep lots and lots of refills for M&G pens, which can be bought from China at really cheap prices!

Crammed in all the different cosmetics stuff into a box for easy storage!

Some notepads that I have. The Schedule it ones are really bad, don't ever buy those. They can't even be torn out from the stack properly.

Stationary tray from Daiso, bought it when I was in Sec 3 or 4 I can't remember, for just 2 dollars! Really worth it, in a good condition till today!

I separated the letter trays into 2 and 1 before, but now I am putting them back together.

This one is a one shot glass that I used for my smaller sticky straps, stapler bullets and my pencil lead. :)

Cleared out and rearranged my letter trays! Tier one has all the work that I have to do, tier 2 is rough paper, tier 3 is notes paper, plain paper, foolscap and colored paper!

Rearranged my smaller shelf, with flash. Looks really neat eh? The large white stack are my IH notes from Sec4, and the stack on top is Economics and Times magazine!

Tidying clutters. :OOO

All done! I always end off by swiping my desk with hand sanitizer, I like to think that I am killing all the germs by doing so hehe xD
I am kinda like a germaphobe? But not a really loyal germaphobe either, heh.

I chose to use lifebuoy instead of dettol coz I like Dettol smell better, so I would rather waste Lifebuoy on my table :)

Is it neat? Whoots!

 Stationery tray! :)

My bookstand! :) Half are literature readings, half of them chemistry :)

Done! Letter tray all neat :) Homework due is on top!

My shelf! I rearranged more or less everything.

With my bed! Oh I cut the hat off the graduation bear, the hat was gathering dirt, and it was so annoying.

That's all for my room!
Hope it has inspired you guys to tidy up too! :D:D

Vivocity, Daiso, Food~~!

I went Vivocity with Denyse and Clarissa to relax after Block Test 2!

We ate at the food court upstairs, and though my food looks really nice, it is honestly not that worth it. Why?

IT IS FREAKING $7.70.
JUST FOR BLOODY MIXED RICE.

Over-priced Vivo food.

Like com'on. If I order like a bazillion meat or fish or something, then $7.70 is still a reasonable price. But hell no. I just got like sweet and sour pork (which tasted bloody disgusting, not even gonna mince words for it), toufu and Shitake mushrooms and it costed $7.70.

NOT WORTH IT. NOT WORTH I AT ALL.

Anyway, the sweet and sour pork was lousy because it tasted like just fried mish-mash of really tough and stale pork bits, and I couldn't even chew through it properly without having things stuck within my teeth. Urgh!

Don't buy from that stall! Can't remember exact name, but it is called some "curry on rice" stall in chinese. The attendees there cheat money one lor.

The soup was like so-so.
 Daiso Snacks
I know I know! People always say Daiso snacks are not worth it, and I agree! But the caramel corn snacks are fabulous and I can't get them cheaper anywhere else!

I actually ate one pack of the caramel corn on the way home, so I bought 3 initially, whilst I ate another same one yesterday....so woah $8 all gone on snacks.

Daiso Caramel Corn, almond and chocolate

I also bought a wallet at the IMM Daiso for myself yesterday! Okay, my mom bought it, same difference. Nice right? I love the transparent strip in the center!
Pink Daiso Carrier
Daiso case. Also available in hot pink and black.
And I got free Kotex Samples!!! 2 boxes somemore! (I asked the nice person on duty to give me haha xD)
Same carrier with stuff inside!

Free Kotex Samples
They were giving this out for free outside Scape. I was like, "I WANT I WANT!" Denyse and Clarissa were like, "Go ask for it."

Of course I did.

Kotex pads muahaha.
Okay, I am kinda tired from all the typing...I will end off with some photos from IMM Daiso!

Shuttle to IMM! So cute!
